Can I Try It?

Joshua loves to help in the kitchen. He also asks what I am doing with each step. Lately, when he is watching me cook he will ask if he can try whatever it is I am making. You might be thinking oh that is great, but don't be fooled, he only asks to try it while I am cooking. Once it is on his plate, he says he doesn't like it. We have nightly battles when it comes to dinner time. Ok, back to the point at hand. One morning I was making my lunch for work and he pulled up a chair to the island and proceeds to ask what each item is and if he can try it. What he ended up trying was cucumbers, grape tomatoes, blueberries, and a homemade protein bar. He loved every single one of them and proclaimed they were all his favorites (he says this about everything that he likes)! I love the fact that he is so into healthy food. Today on the way to school, he had half of a homemade protein bar and 2 cucumber slices! Lol. As long as he asks to try new things I will be more than happy to let him. We do have a rule, that he has to try everything on his plate at least once. We call this a "no thank you bite". My friend told me about the "no thank you bite" and I thought I would give it a try. A "no thank you bite" is when you try something on your plate and don't like it you say "no thank you" after you have tasted it. It works sometimes. Yesterday, his "no thank you bites" turned into yes please and he ate everything on his plate and asked for more. It is hit or miss with him but at least he likes to try new things. I have attached a couple of pictures that have nothing to do with this post, but I figured you wouldn't mind looking at this cute guy!
