Random, but Cute!

This is just a random post with no real rhyme or reason other than to share cute things that Joshua has been doing and how we have been enjoying our weekends thus far! Joshua is really into talking and talking ALOT! He tries to repeat everything he hears and even has a language all his own. We are trying to teach Joshua his full name and how old he is and the city and state that he lives in. This is how the conversation goes:

Us: What is your name?
Josh: "Josh eldman"
Us: What city and state do you live in?
Josh: "ound ock, Texi"
Us: How old are you?
Josh: "two!"

Joshua also has a super hero name! When asked what his super hero name, he will tell you it's "Suuuper Josh!" with his arms out in front of him like he is flying! So cute!

We have been enjoying our days outdoors lately! Since it is so darn hot already, we have set up Joshua's own personal water park in the backyard. He loves it! Even Mommy and Daddy cooled off in it a few times! He loves to splash in the sprinkler and get his face right in the water!

Joshua got to experience another fun treat over this past weekend! Rocky Road Ice Cream!! YUM! He loved it and it was everywhere!!!! That is why in the picture below he is having his treat outside, because after the mess all I had to do was spray him and the patio down with the water hose!

Joshua loves when you sound out words. He tries his best to sound them out with you and claps when he does it! He is getting to be a little bossy but not too bad! The other night he told me to "get up, momma" from the chair I was sitting in because it was his turn! Everything his "my turn"! No matter if he wants to try something or if he wants something you have, he will say "my turn". We are working on his please and thank yous! He says please but still signs "thank you". He can say "thank you" when he says the words separately, but once you put them together he signs it! It is the weirdest thing. He also wants to "show me" everything. He really means show Dan or I something, but he says "show me" as he takes you by the hand and leads you to where he wants you to go.
Just a cute little note from his teachers at school today (which kind of prompted me to write this blog):
The classroom mirror is VERY important to Josh. He checks himself out in it several times during the day-sometimes wearing a new hat, trying out a new dance move or just looking at his sweet smile!!
Such a fantastic little man!!!!!

SOPHIE

Over the weekend we took Joshua to ride Sophie, the train. This is a cute miniature locomotive that is inside one of the parks in the area. The train takes you on a 1.3 mile ride(about 15 mins) through the winding forest and over a bridge and across many fields. Joshua was a little hesitant at first. I actually had to pick him up and carry him to the seat, but once the train started to move and Sophie blew her whistle he felt better about the ride. This train is family owned and operated. The husband and wife team actually laid the 1.3 mile track in just 56 days and also built Sophie. Impressive! Another neat part is that the conductor, who also happens to be the engineer comes to every one's seat and punches their ticket. Kind of like in the polar express without the fancy words. So you get to keep your tickets, which Joshua held on tight to the whole train ride. It was a nice, morning outing and we were glad to find a train that was north in our area. We usually go to the one down south.

Surprise Date Night

On Sunday afternoon, Dan surprised me by taking me on a surprise date night. All I knew was that I needed to be ready to go by 2:00 and I wasn't to ask any questions(I normally do that). So, I did what I was told and was ready by 2 without asking any questions. Dan had made arrangements for my brother and sister n law to take Joshua for the afternoon/evening so that he can take me on this surprise adventure.

We headed into Austin and I was very curious as to where we were going because in my head I was trying very hard to figure this whole thing out(what can I say, I am always in the know and it drives me crazy not to be, so of course I was trying to solve the mystery). When we pulled into the parking lot of the movie theatre I knew we where there to see a movie. I was so excited, because I think the last time we had actually gone to a movie was when Joshua was about 6 months old. So we purchased our tickets to see "Date Night"(which was a great movie) and then we sort of just hung around. I kept asking why are we not going in to sit down, he was like I want to look around and see the advertisements. I thought how weird, but didn't say anything because I was trying to be good. The next thing I knew we were being greeted by another couple, our friends Alicia and Brandon! I was shocked and the waiting around had made sense. I couldn't believe that they had been in on the whole thing too. I had just saw Alicia the day before when she brought Ben over for a play date.(Kuddos to her for keeping it under wraps!!)
Still in shock we go find our seats and watch the movie. After it was over there was still another surprise awaiting me. We went to The Domain where we all sat on the patio at Gloria's(the best Mexican/El Salvadorian food ever) and talked and ate and had a wonderful time! We parted ways after that but Dan and I were not ready to go and pick up Joshua. So we went to Yo Yo's Yogurt and had a little treat! It was so yummy! This place is self serve and the frozen yogurt is on the wall and you just help yourself and then there is an endless number of toppings to add to your frozen yummy goodness. It was a nice refreshing treat.

I am still on cloud 9! It was so much fun! We literally have not had a true date night in FOREVER and for my husband to pull it off and surprise me made it 100 times better! He is amazing and he thought out and planned the whole thing from Joshua down to inviting some friends! Not that Dan can't do any of that but usually guys don't do this, it is usually the girls planning everything. I love my husband so much!!! He is the BEST! He is so sweet to always think of me and surprise me. He definitely KNOWS how to treat his woman! I love you, babe! Thanks for a great Surprise Date Night!!!

Your Joshua Fill

So, I just have some random pictures of Joshua that I thought were too cute and I could not resist sharing them. I am also going to share a few things that Joshua is up to now of days. I honestly can not believe that we are almost halfway thru this year and that Joshua will be 2 1/2 yrs old in June. Mind blowing, huh? So I have compiled a list of things, in no particular order of what this little boy has been doing lately!

* He loves to count! He counts anywhere, anytime and everything!

* He still goes to bed without a fuss and still has not gotten out of his bed to play, etc.
Speaking of beds, he is now in a twin bed and loving it!

* He drinks out of cups without lids or straws. He doesn't do this very often, but he can do it and there is very minimal spilling

* He still loves to swing, but now he wants to go higher, and higher

*Communication is getting a little easier each and everyday. He can speak some 2 word sentences, sometimes 3 word sentences. It helps out alot that he can tell us what he wants for the most part.
* One of his favorite things is to hop, hop, hop like bunny! Sometimes he request that we join in as well. Don't you wish you can be a fly on our wall...haha!
* He is a huge ELMO fan! He loves to watch Elmo and request to see Elmo every afternoon, sometimes he gets his wish other times not.
* He still throws some of the worst tantrums in town, but can also cuddle with the best of them.

* Joshua still loves MUSIC and everything about it. I don't think this kid will stop loving music! I am so glad about this! I love music as well and so does Dan. Dan and I have different types of music that we like, so Joshua gets a wide variety.
* Joshua can pick out instruments in a song and say and pretend play the instrument. The picture below is of him playing his "horn". I realize it is a margarita glass, but he only knows it as his "horn".

*He pretend plays with his stuff animals. I believe that the monkey is his "imaginary" friend. He has conversations with the monkey, dances with the monkey, plays cars with the monkey.
* He has a certain bear and horse that he sleeps with and only plays with when he goes to bed. The horse and bear normally don't leave the bed. He kisses them goodnight and tells them night, night when it is time to go to bed.
* Joshua can sing "Rock a bye baby" and "twinkle, twinkle little star". Funny thing is that he sings twinkle twinkle little Josh. I have no idea where that came from, but it is cute!
* We have cut back on the hard core potty training. He seems to have lost interest and that is ok. We thought for awhile there that he might start going, but now you would think it is the end of the world when we ask if he has to go potty. He shakes his head no and begins to cry and cry. So we have backed off. We have tried goldfish, suckers, gummy snacks, etc. He could care less, so we will just keep trying but no pressure to make him! He will do it when he is ready!

* Joshua is not much of an eater when it comes supper time, but he still loves his fruits and veggies. His favorite veggies are broccoli and green beans. His favorite fruits are bananas and apples. He is not so much into grapes anymore.
* Favorite foods are still goldfish (if you want to call that food) and lunchables, and waffles but he pretty much eats whatever is placed in front of him.
* When asked his name he will tell you, Josh Feldman (eldman) and how old are you? he says 2
* He is still a water baby and loves everything about the water rather he be in the tub, splashing around with his water table or running through the sprinkler. The boy is all about water! He is not afraid to dump water over his head, in fact he will do it himself and laugh hysterically.

* Joshua will start his 3rd season of swim lessons at the end of June and in July will start a little toddler movement and music class. I am really excited for these sessions because I know they are right up his alley.
* This little boy gets more and more amazing everyday. I am such a lucky mom to have such a fantastic kid!

Celebration of Grammy!!

On Mother's Day weekend we took a little trip to the big city of Grapeland, to celebrate one very special Mother! My mom decided to throw a party for my grandmother and have the whole weekend be about her and what better weekend to do so than on Mother's Day Weekend! So, my mom coordinated everything and all her sisters and brother helped throw one big party! All 5 of her kids were their with spouses, 7 out of 9 grand kids were there with their spouses and 8 out of 11 great-grand kids were there to help celebrate! I think we counted around 30 people at one point! It was such a fun, celebratory weekend. The weekend started off bright and early on Saturday with a round of Cajun golf. There was also a bubble blowing party, a nature walk, a truck ride to see the cows and much much more. We had Saturday night's dinner catered and my mom had decorated the garage with gerber daisies and white table cloths. It was so sweet! We all took turns after dinner sharing memories and fun times with my grandmother. She had a fabulous time! We all went to church on Sunday as a family and boy did we fill up the pews and the nursery! It was great to spend Mother's Day with my mom and my grand-mother, two people that I cherish the most and look up to the most in my life and I was able to be with them! We all went our separate ways after lunch, but I know that everyone had a wonderful time helping celebrate such a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother! Words can't describe how proud I am to be apart of her and my grandfather's legacy! My Grammy is so wise and loving and fun! She will do anything for anybody and go out of her way to help! She is also the most God fearing woman I have ever met and for that I am truly grateful! I know my grandmother is not perfect and she would not claim to be, but I think she is pretty darn close! I am so glad that we had this wonderful weekend to honor her for all she has done for us. We are truly blessed! I have posted pictures from the weekend below!

I wanted to throw in a little blurb about my Mom! My mom has sacrificed so much for me and her family! She is such a loving, caring individual. She too will go out of her way to do anything she can to help out. Every time I need to talk she is there to listen and always seems to have a positive attitude no matter what. I am glad God chose her to be my mom, because I don't think there is anyone else that would be able to match her. She is truly an amazing woman and I am proud to call her my mom! She is an awesome wife, mother and grandmother and always, always, thinks of others before herself! I love you mom! YOU ROCK!!!
