Joshua

I thought I would jot down a few things about Joshua. He will be 4 1/2 on the 14th of June. I can't believe he is going to be 5 this year! I asked Joshua some questions and here are the answers he gave:

What is your favorite color?
-Blue and rainbow

How old are you?
-I'll be 5 on my burfday(birthday)
How are you right now?
-4( holds up 4 fingers)

What do you like to eat?
-chicken nuggets, hamburgers and broccoli

What do you like to drink?
- chocolate milk and red juice(crystal light fruit punch)

What do you like to do outside?
- blow bubbles, and swing and chase birds

What happens when You throw Milo the frisbee?
-Milo runs and I chase him

When it is getting dark outside what does daddy do?
-turn on the fire( light the tiki torches)

What is your favorite thing to sleep with?
- My blankies

What's your favorite number?
- 2, like Edward ( the train)

Do you like to be covered up?
- No! No covers for me.

Joshua has become very chatty thanks to his speech therapy. He talks all the time and sometimes he says the funniest things. "daddy, me and you are family!" on the way to the eye doctor: " mommy your eyes hurt?"

Joshua's new found "loves": Nemo, getting himself dressed, outer space and rockets, picture bingo, reading books to himself in bed, watering the plants, and telling knock, knock jokes.

Memorial Weekend

We went to my Mom and Joel's house for the long holiday weekend. We try to see everyone as much as possible but we can pretty much guarantee we will get see everyone over this long weekend. We do our other big get together over labor day usually. This year we decided to bring out our competitive spirits and have a battle of the sexes!! If you know are family, you know that we each competitive in our own way, and it can get a little crazy! We had shirts made( thank you Krystal) and even had team names! Womanators vs Eliminators. We played 6 games total and it was a blast. The Eliminators won overall, but the Womanators are good sports, so we let them gloat over their victory and we will get them next year!!! We did alot of swimming and relaxing and of course eating! We also had a crawfish boil which is tradition and we all look forward to that. I know you want to see this pictures, so I will stop typing, but I do want to say that I am so blessed to have such a great family. We have our ups and downs like any other family, but we are all here for each other no matter what. We love to hang out together and never get tired of each other. So here you go, pictures. Enjoy!

This picture cracks me up! The guys cut their sleeves off their shirts
And used them as dew rags. This is Josh showing off his "guns"!

Team Womanators!

Team Eliminators!

One of the games that we played. Toss a water
Balloon back and forth, whoever has the most catches
Wins. ( Womanators almost had this game)

Giggle Worms

I have been meaning to post about Joshua's tumbling class. Better late than never. Along with Joshua's ABA therapy, we also get money for activities and camps. So, we decided to use some of the money for The Little Gym. Joshua is in the class called the Giggle Worms. He goes on Monday nights. He had a little trouble at first but with each class he seems to get a little more comfortable. Dan and I decided that this would be a good way to help with his socialization. He still has to be apart of a group and interact, but he can also go on his own and tumble. Each week is a different lessons and the staff is awesome! I took some pictures with my phone, so they are not the best quality, but you can see how he improves in each picture.

Puddles of Fun!

When I was little my mom would let me and my brother go outside and splash around in the puddles after it had rained. We also used to play and dance in the rain, when it wasn't thundering or lightening, of course. So, when it rained yesterday, I did not hesitate one bit when Joshua asked me if he could jump in the puddles! He had so much fun! He was completely soaked by the end, but at least we made some memories!

Walking for Babies!

There are alot of fundraising events in the Austin area for different organizations. We really have never participated as a family in an event, so I decided to sign us up for The March of Dimes walk for babies. A nurse that I work with had a team set up so we signed up. The walk was 3.2 miles! It was pretty amazing to see all these families walking for their child or someone else's. They had a lot of fun things set up for the kids and families. the walk started at 9, but we got there around 7:30. Joshua did great overall. We had to take turns carrying him a few times, but overall he walked right along with us. We had a few hiccups along the way, but we completed the entire walk as a family! I am so proud of my little family. I think we will sign up for more of these events. It was very rewarding knowing that we walked for all these tiny, premature babies! Of course I have pictures to share.

Hanging out by the water waiting for the walk to start.

This was our view by the water. Beautiful morning for a walk.

Jump House Fun!!

Joshua loved this cow! We saw it before the walk
and then he wanted to go back after. I guess the cow was
there to represent the milk company that was giving away
free ice cream sandwiches. It was a big hit!

And we are off...

We took a break along the route to enjoy
some spiderman ice cream.

Wiped Out!!!! ( I removed the blanket after I took
the picture. :) )

First Swim of the Season

Mimi and Papa came into town Saturday for a reunion, and while Papa played golf, we hung out with Mimi. We went downtown and met Marcy at her hotel for lunch and swimming. We spent all afternoon hanging out by the pool. The water was so cold, but that didn't stop Joshua from getting in. He loved it! He mostly stayed on the steps, but I did take him out to the middle a couple of times. It was sure warm enough to go for a swim. It was a nice, relaxing afternoon.

Joshua was ready to swim before we left the house.

Gearing up to swim, even though we are still at lunch!

This picture just cracks me up. This was all his idea.

Braving the water...slowly!

Over the cold water and now it's time for blowing bubbles!

Another break. Our breaks were for warming up.

No swim is complete without ice cream!!
Thanks Mimi and Marcy for the fun afternoon.
