Rodeos, and Parks, and Egg Hunts...Oh My!!

So are weekend was filled with fun and excitement from Friday to Sunday! We had a really great weekend and the weather could not have been more perfect! Friday afternoon we decided to hit the Austin Rodeo! It was so much fun and Joshua loved the petting zoo and the pony rides! He could have stayed on those ponies forever(if only we had the tokens to last forever). He did get to ride the ponies twice though, so that made him happy. He was too little to ride some of the other kiddie rides in the carnival area, so we just hung out in Kidstown and ate fair food. It was so yummy! We ended our evening with a funnel cake and left just about the time it was starting to get crowded, so it was perfect timing! On Saturday, we woke up and went to a farmer's market that I had heard about and shopped around there and then I dropped the boys back off at the house and finished the rest of the grocery shopping, then Saturday was our Italian night(which I already posted about in another post). Then on Sunday afternoon we went to a city wide Easter Egg Hunt. Now, I have never been to one of these but I thought it would be fun for Joshua and my nieces, so we all piled in the car and took off. The egg hunt was organized chaos(best way to describe it). They had divided the egg hunt into age groups and the mayor of the city came around and started the hunt at each age group. My nieces seemed to have a good time, but my heart sank when we reached Joshua's age group and they were almost done. I was sad, but I was also glad that Joshua is still at the age where he doesn't care and I don't have to mend his broken heart yet and explain why we missed his egg hunt! He was able to find some candy and half of a couple of eggs, which he promptly put in his basket. He was so excited when he found the "goodies" and was laughing and smiling the whole time. Joshua had a great time and that is all that matters! It was a fun but busy weekend!!! I need a nap just typing it all out! I have said it before, but it is weekends like these that I would love to FREEZE! I have posted pictures below of our fun and exciting weekend!!!

An Italian Night in Round Rock

Over time in my many grocery shopping trips, I have noticed that the ethnic sections are growing more and more and the foods are getting more and more accessible to make at home. So, after my last shopping trip I came home and told Dan that I would like to try and make a true authentic ethnic meal once a month. I will let him do the choosing and I will do the cooking or try to do the cooking. So, this Saturday was the day and Dan had chosen Italian. So, I sat down and made out my list. I even did a little research on Italian food so I could get it as close as I could. Here was the menu: Homemade Lasagna, Italian bread, steamed veggies, and a walnut cake along with a red wine to drink. I even decorated the table to make it look like an Italian mealtime. I was in the kitchen for about 4 plus hours, but it was fun and I didn't mind it, because it is just once a month and it kind of turned into a date night and we didn't even have to leave our house. It was a great time and the food turn out really good. Everything was wonderful. We had a great meal and we ate our dessert after Joshua went to bed while we watched a movie! It was a perfect night!! I have posted pictures of the evening meal below!

Happenings of the Week!

I thought I would share the ends and outs of our past week. We have been enjoying the spring like weather and have been spending our afternoons and evenings outside blowing bubbles, playing baseball and basically just running around and around and around (Joshua that is!). I have cooked a new meal from Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals each night of this past week with the exception of Friday(there's gotta be a day for leftovers!) We had our weekly ECI session with Katie that basically consisted of the adults discussing things, because Joshua was in a mood where he only wanted to play by himself and that is perfectly acceptable! Joshua has also not been taking very long naps at school which totally throws him off schedule and has made the evenings this week rather challenging and the bedtimes come a little earlier than usual. Joshua got his spring pictures taken at school which includes his blanket, because we both had a really rough start to the week and apparently that was his only comfort after I left(Can't wait to see that picture). On Thursday, it was western day at school and everyone was encouraged to dress the part. They had a cook out and got to eat outside. His teachers said he had a great time dancing to the western music. Friday we went to the outlet mall and walked around just so Joshua could get his "wiggles" out. He seemed to be very bored while we were at home, so we decided it would be fun to go walk around the outlet mall and have a different change of scenery. The weekend is filled with little to nothing and we are fine with that.

This boy can hit a ball!!! Can we say Tee-ball!!!

ENJOY YOUR WEEK EVERYBODY!!!

Tag Your It!

Here are the rules:
1. Open your first photo folder on your computer.
2. Scroll to the 10th picture.
3. Post that picture and the story behind it.
4. Tag 5 or more people.

I was tagged and I have never done one of these before, so I thought what the heck I will play along! My picture files are sorted randomly, so this is what you get...A picture of Joshua at 1 month old! This picture is of him screaming his head off (obviously), while we were trying to get a 1 month picture of him. This would be the beginning of a 12 month stretch of getting his picture taken on our couch on the 14th of every month until he turned one, so we could see how much he had grown and changed month to month. Look how cute he is even though he is screaming his head off!
I tag Storey, and Lisa, but since Lisa has already been tagged, whoever else wants to play along, I tag you as well! Most of the people on my blog list, do not blog on a regular basis! :-)

13 for Wednesday

What has Joshua been up to lately?

1. He can count to 10 and recognizes the numbers when he sees them randomly. ( For example, he was looking at the clock the other day and just started randomly pointing to each number and saying them.)

2. He knows the colors green(geen), orange, purple(puple), blue(bue), red, and yellow(ello)

3. He is a little chatter box! Saying new 2 word phrases everyday. Like: "got it", "go car", "my turn", etc.

4. He loves to drink milk (mulk) and normally wants it in a regular glass with a straw

5. He loves the Wii system and demands us to play it all the time! He has certain games that he likes to watch us play and will cheer when we are done whether it be a good score or bad score!

6. The kid is in love with bubbles! He can't get enough of them, so lately we have been going outside to blow bubbles.

7. He is still loving school and continues to be the leader in the class, but what else would you expect from our little Joshua.

8. Running, marching or hopping is how he gets around these days!

9. He likes to push the shopping cart, instead of riding in it!

10. He loves salad

11. He loves to give "air kisses" to anything and anyone in the room(this is a new thing he just started. He will label whatever it is before he goes and gives it or you an "air kiss", ex: mama"muah", ball "muah")

12. Did I mention he is a little chatter box these days! I can't believe it! It is like turning on a light switch!

13. He still gives the greatest bear hugs in the world!!!!!

What You Didn't See

After posting a short slide show last week on our anniversary, my aunt made the comment that she was glad I put some pictures of the original wedding site in the slide show, because she didn't get to see it all decorated. I started thinking and after talking to my mom, I realized that no one got to see the amazing decorations and building all decorated except for maybe a few people. Not even Dan got to see the original wedding site, except through pictures! Looking at my wedding pictures it breaks my heart to see this beautiful place and all the wonderful, fabulous decorations that my mom and Linda worked endlessly putting together and decorating the place. They would not want me to post anything about them, but they deserve for these photos to be shown the way it was supposed to be. I know you are probably thinking well, why 3 years later, well to be honest I just realized that really no one saw it and how it was supposed to be, plus I was a little preoccupied you know having a baby and all....lol! So below are some pictures of the Angel Springs Event Center and the place all decorated and ready for the ceremony. I am not sad about how it turned out, and Dan and I are blessed to have family and friends that love and support us so much that they pulled together that day to make the hotel a wedding site. But a girl has a dream wedding in her head and that is what gets me. I would have married Dan no matter where we were or how we were dressed, because us getting married was the most important. It is a fond memory and I still have friends tell me that our wedding was the most exciting and memorable experience they have had thus far...ha!

Me and my girls in front of the entryway into the ceremony

In the bride's room getting ready!

I had to throw this one in from the hotel room, the girls checking out what is being done outside. We looked out this window alot....lol!

Why we had to be evacuated!!

Right after we were told we had to leave IMMEDIATELY!!!

I think I am still in shock here,...lol!

This is my favorite decoration picture! My mom had me walk out and stand at the end of the aisle to see this view, which I thought was odd, but she already knew that we had to leave and she wanted me to see it all done before it was torn down! I am glad she did that!!!!

Another view of the aisle! It was funny it took them all morning to set this up, but they had it down in 30 minutes...ha!
