"This is the way we brush our teeth..."

I love to brush my teeth!

We have been brushing Joshua's teeth, since he was about 5 months old(around the time he got his first teeth). We have brushed them almost everyday since then and we have a song and everything(we will share that a little later). For the past couple of weeks, he has been putting this toy screwdriver in his mouth and moving it around in his mouth. It is the same screwdriver each time and pretty much the same motion(side to side and all around). So Dan and I decided that he was trying to brush his teeth. So, we went and bought him another toothbrush that he can just have and play with. It is so funny to watch him with this toothbrush. They say that at around 13 to 14 months is when they start getting attached to things, I think Joshua's attachment will be the toothbrush. Some kids have toys or blankets, but not Joshua he will be the kid that carries around the toothbrush. He gets upset when you take it away from him. He crawls and plays with it in his hand. He stops every once in awhile to "brush" his teeth with it. We got an action shot of him brushing his teeth tonight all by himself. It is hard to teach good habits, I am amazed that this GOOD habit caught on so well. Like I have said in a previous blog, kids are like little sponges and this clip is proof!!! (He is looking in the mirror most of the clip, because the kid just can't stop looking and smiling at himself)

Look at Me I'm Walking!!! (well sort of)

My dad and Jan came to visit for Christmas for a few days and while they were here, Jan helped Joshua learn to walk while just holding one hand instead of two. He has been walking with two hands for a while now and has gotten really quick. So, when he started with just one hand he was a little shaky. He practiced and practiced and each time he got a little better. Now, Dan and I only let him hold one hand when we walk with him. He has only been walking this way for a few days, but he has a pretty good hang of it now. He has even tried to let go of our hands a few times and went tumbling to the ground, but that is all part of it I guess. He is becoming more and more independent!! The clip is of him walking holding Jan's hand. We are so proud of him!!! Here comes a whole NEW world!!!!

We're in TROUBLE now...

Haha! I still have one bow left!!!
Oh no she caught me!!!!

What?? It wasn't me, I swear!!

OK, so Joshua recently started crawling/scooting around. So we haven't had to baby proof the house just yet. We bought some baby proofing stuff a while back when we thought he might just take off, but he never did, so we put it up. Well, just this past week he has been getting better and better at this whole crawling thing. We have found him under the side table just hanging out and by the back door saying hello to Milo outside and many other fun places that he has traveled too. I always knew that we would eventually have to pull out the baby proofing stuff, and this was the week. The most recent place that I have found Joshua was yesterday by the Christmas tree! When I walked in the living room I found presents strung everywhere. All the bows were off of them. He had a good old time while I was on the phone. I took some pictures(of course) One of the pics he is looking at me as if to say what it wasn't me, it was Milo, but the blue bow on his back says otherwise! Needless to say we baby proofed the house last night and basically had to get down on his level in order to make sure we covered everything. Joshua is getting use to this whole mobile thing and loving every minute of it!!!

1 Year Check Up!!

Joshua had his one year check up today! He weighs 21lbs 3oz. and is 28 1/2 inches long. The doctor said that he can now have whole milk and can face forward in his car seat if we prefer. I am not sure about the whole milk yet, because when he was younger he always got congested on the milk formula and when I switched him to soy he would clear up. So we might just stay on Soy for awhile. She also asked me if he had been having any tantrums? Which caught me off guard. I said well he has been expressing his frustrations a lot more openly and I guess you could call them tantrums. She said that was normal and that everybody thinks it happens at two, but that it starts at one for the most part. That was an interesting fact!!! She said it was just a way of them showing their frustration and expressing themselves and at this time it can usually be handled by distracting them with something like a toy or whatever works. So the fun begins...

He got his 12 month shots which he took like a trooper. We do not go back until he is 15 months old. Joshua gave his best smile to the doctor and the nurses in the office. He was so funny! What a great kiddo!!!

Joshua turns ONE!!!!

Today Joshua turned one!!! WOW, so much has happened in the past year. He has accomplished so much in one year! Last night we set our alarms on our phones to go off at exactly 8:06am(the exact time he came into the world). We played his birthday CD that his uncle Eric gave him which sings Joshua a special birthday song from captain Zoom. We also did a lot of reminiscing of this day a year ago, from how nervous we were driving to the hospital at 4:45 am knowing that in a few ours we would have this tiny little person enter our world and change our lives forever to the unexplainable joy that we felt when we heard him cry for the first time! It was a wonderful day. We went and had a birthday lunch and went shopping for a few things and then we came home and relaxed and played with all the new toys that Joshua got from his birthday party the day before. It was a wonderful birthday weekend. Joshua did really well with his party on Saturday. We had about 34 people there and it was great. Joshua received lots of fun, noisy, light-up gifts, but his favorite of all was the TISSUE PAPER!!!! ha ha!! We just finished putting Joshua to bed and I can't help but to stop and thank God for giving me the best blessing anyone could receive. This past year has been filled with challenges, lessons(lots of lessons), laughter, joy, tears, milestones, and much, much more! Joshua is the BEST!!! I love you sweet boy, Happy 1st Birthday!!!!!!

Boys will be Boys!

I am posting another blog, because I have a few things more to blog about! We were outside the other evening and Joshua, being the helpful child that he is decided that he would pull weeds for us and dispose of them by eating them. Everyone that knows me, knows how much of a clean freak, germaphobic person I am. So you can only imagine what I was like, when I saw my son eating weeds and grass. I FREAKED!!! Of course, Dan laughed and said it was going to be ok. Well, we dug most of the weeds out of his mouth and told him "no", but he went right back to pulling weeds and eating them. This is not something you want to see your child do. I am pretty sure that this is least of what is yet to come. I know I have plenty of mud pies, bugs, and lizards in my future. Just all the fun and joy of having a little one! I am going to have to learn that it is ok to be messy at times. Enjoy the pics!

Oh by the way...IT'S ONE WEEK UNTIL JOSHUA'S FIRST BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!! Time flies!!!

It's About Time!

Ok, so everyone knows that we have been wondering if Joshua was ever going to crawl, Dan and I decided that he wouldn't crawl, that he would just go straight to walking and we had accepted that. I was told by everyone that a baby needs to go through all the steps. Well, I was convinced that Joshua was going to skip this one step, since he can already pull up and cruise. Well, tonight, Joshua and Dan were playing with this toy and a few of the pieces were across the room and all of the sudden, just like turning a switch, Joshua started to army crawl to the pieces. Dan and I are trying not to get overly excited, because eveytime we have in the past, he stops and looks at us, like we are crazy! So we are peacefully celebrating as we see him army crawl towards these toys. He finally reaches them and we clap and he smiles! So, like any other parent we decided to torture him a little. We pushed the toys away from him in the other direction and sure enough, he went after them again. This went on for about 20mins or so and each time he got faster and more accurate. He eventually got pooped and we put him to bed. As a parent you have these expectations of how you want your child to do and be, but I am truly learning, that with Joshua, he is going to do it when he wants to do it and in no paticular order! He has proven that to me over and over again. Kids are amazing in how fast they learn and accomplish things. THEY ARE LIKE LITTLE SPONGES!!!!

First Time Blogger

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time blogging and the Feldmans first time to have a blog spot. A lot of my family and friends have blogs and websites to keep everyone updated on what it going on, so I thought I would join the latest trend, "blogging"!
