Celebrating 80 Years!!!

This weekend we went to the big city of Grapeland, TX to celebrate my wonderful grandfather's 80th birthday! Almost everyone in the family was able to make it for the whole weekend. On Saturday, we had a wonderful surprise party for him at the local restaurant. We told old stories, watched a precious video with pictures and memories and sang "happy birthday" and the kids even got to help with blowing out the candles!!!! It was a wonderful time of celebrating. The whole weekend was dedicated to his special day. It was nice to get together and see everyone. Joshua had a really great time playing with his 2nd cousins. We ended the weekend with all of us going to church(we took up three rows). How amazing to have such a close knit, huge family to share this wonderful time with. My grandfather, or Poppy as us grandchildren call him is a wise and wonderful man. I am so blessed to be apart of him and this wonderful family! Happy 80th Birthday, Poppy!!!!! We love you!!!

Blue Skies and Ice Cream Cones!!!

Today was a beautiful spring day! The weather was perfect so we decided to make the best of it by getting out and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. Our day started off with a hunt to find some bluebonnets, which was unsuccessful. We saw some along the highway, but the field that we went to last year was vacant. We will continue our search until we find the perfect and most safe spot to take pictures in the bluebonnets. After the bluebonnet hunt was a bust, we decided to come home and work in the yard. Joshua had other plans and that was to take a wonderful 3 1/2 hour nap. That's right, no typo here 3 1/2 hours. Poor guy must have needed it bad! So daddy and I worked in the yard all morning fixing up the flower bed , taking care of the shrubs and trees. After Joshua's nice solid nap and some lunch we were off again. Dan decided that he wanted a smoothie from Smoothie King and it just so happened that Maggie Moos was a couple of doors down, so while Dan went to get a smoothie Joshua and I decided we would go get ice cream. Now, this would be Joshua's first true ice cream cone. He loves to take bites of my skinny cow ice cream sandwiches(which by the way are fabulous), but never has had anything like an ice cream cone. We decided to enjoy our ice cream and smoothie outside. Joshua of course wanted to try everything. He tried Dan's smoothie first, which was lemon and strawberry. Joshua must have gotten all lemon because he made the most puckered face I have ever seen. I couldn't get my phone out in time to take a pic( i was holding 2 ice cream cones). Well he loved it and kept going back for more sips, that is until he was given his vanilla ice cream cone. The kid went to town! He tried to even eat it from the bottom up. Silly boy!!! It was a good time eating our treats! Thank goodness for baby wipes!!! Below are some pictures of our wonderful Saturday. We are now all exhausted and hanging out. Tomorrow is another beautiful spring day, can't wait!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!!

These random pictures have nothing to do with St. Patrick's Day, but I thought I would share them anyway. Just a little something to brighten up your day!!!
Out for a sunny, spring, stroll( say that 3 times fast)

Joshua is such the little helper.
He doesn't like to just sit in the cart, he wants to help push!

Top 5 for 15 months!!

Joshua is 15 months today! So, in celebration of 15 months I am going to share with you his top 5 things he loves to do.

1. Tries to climb on everything!! He has not mastered this yet(thank goodness), but he definitely tries to throw his leg up over anything he can and pull himself up.

2. He loves to spin the toilet paper roll. When he first started this he never pulled the toilet paper off the roll, but that has since changed. His goal is too try and get every last bit of paper off the roll. He loves it!

3. He pulls every last one of his books off the shelf. He pulls each book one by one. It is kind of like he is trying to pick which one he wants to read. After all the books are on the floor. He sits in the middle of the pile and begins to read. He will not open a book until they are all on the floor!

4. Dance, Dance, Dance! Joshua loves to dance. Every since he was little he would sway side to side when he would hear music. He loves music!!! Lately, he has been bouncing up and down when he hears music. He will pull himself up to a standing position and just start bouncing up and down and then swaying side to side while the music plays. The kids got some rhythm.

5. Closes doors. Joshua goes around closing doors. If there is a door opened then Joshua will find it. He will crawl into the room and shut the door. He soon realizes that he has shut himself inside the room and then begins to "knock" or bang on the door for someone to let him out. Such fun games we have at the Feldman house.

" I can see clearly now..."(Pink-eye update)

It has been a 3 days since we began the treatment for Joshua's pink-eye and his eyes are looking much better. He was able to go back to school today and play with his friends. He was so excited to be there. Best part is he can see much better without all that gunk and stuff in his eyes(just look how happy he is in the picture). He looks like a totally different kiddo. We are glad that Joshua is better, because that means that we can go to Dallas this weekend and celebrate Kaden's(our nephew and Joshua's cousin) FIRST birthday!! We are so excited! Can't wait to see everyone!

Our encounter with Pink-eye!!!!

On Saturday Joshua woke up with his eyes matted shut and his eyes very swollen! I didn't really think anything of it, because the wonderful Texas weather had just changed AGAIN. I thought maybe he was affected by all the cedar, and mold that had been tossed around with the wind and everything. So, I just wiped his eyes and gave him some benadryl and we went on about our day. Well, his eyes never got better, at one point the poor kid could barely see out of them. I still continued to wipe his eyes. He never acted like he felt bad or that his eyes bothered him at all. Sunday morning rolled around and he woke up with his eyes fused together by the gunk that was in them. Once, again a took warm cloths and placed them over his eyes and tried to wipe away all the gunk that was keeping him from seeing. It broke my heart to see him like that, but it didn't seem to bother him one bit. We talked about not going to the kite festival, but still thought that it was the weather and gave him some benadryl and went on to the kite festival. Now, I have never had pink-eye nor have a ever encountered anyone with pink-eye so I am honestly thinking the weather is just really hitting him hard. Yesterday they still looked horrible, so I made him a doctor's appt. The nurses at my work said that it might be a sinus infection that had just backed up into his eyes, and one of them said it might be pink-eye. I was shocked at that, because I thought you can only get pink-eye from someone who already had it and he had not been around anyone that had pink-eye. Well, when we went to the doctor she confirmed what my nurse at work had thought. Joshua had pink-eye in both eyes. The doctor explained to me that you can get pink-eye many different ways and apparently Joshua's sinus had backed up so much that it caused his eyes to become infected with all the nasty bacteria and therefore causing him to get pink-eye. So, now we are treating the pink-eye with 1 drop in each eye 3 times a day. This is not an easy task with a one year old. We literally have to hold him down and pray that the drops get in the eye. The doctor said that he should start to get better in 24hrs after the drops have been in. I guess I can actually say this is our first true sickness! I am thankful for that. Kids are so resilient! As you can see in the pictures below, this pink-eye stuff isn't a problem for him! He is still his bubbly, loving, happy self. In a few days Joshua should be a new little man!!

Let's Go Fly a Kite....

Today we went to the 81st annual Zilker Park Kite Festival. Dan and I have been almost every year since we have been together, but this was Joshua's very first Kite Festival. The Kite Festival happens around the 1st weekend in March and is free to the public and is so much fun. The weather was perfect! We stood in line for a while, but it was worth it. There are so many neat kites to look at of so many shapes and sizes. They even have contest for kites in different categories. You can even make it an all day affair. You can bring your own little picnic if you wanted too. Dan and I decided that next year we might for go the kite flying ourselves and just bring a picnic and watch the other kites soar high above us. This is entertainment in itself. The kite festival is somewhat of a tradition that Dan and I started accidentally. We hope to keep the tradition going so that Joshua can continue to enjoy it like we do. We hope that everyone has a chance to experience something like the kite festival! We would love for you guys to join us one year!!

This is what Joshua did at the kite festival!
