All Aboard!!!

This past Sunday, we decided to take a little trip down to Zilker park and have Joshua experience his first train ride. I didn't know how well he would do just sitting on the train, since it was a 20 minute ride. He did really well. He loved it! He smiled and squealed the whole time! He got a little restless towards the end of the ride, but for the most part he sat on Dan's lap and took in the scenic tour of the park. Below are some pics of our Sunday train ride!

Daddy and Joshua waiting to ride the train! The water behind them is actually the Barton Springs pool! It is spring fed and is a favorite swimming hole in Austin.

Mommy and Joshua on the train. Waiting for the whistle so we can go!

This is what Joshua kept doing the whole time, smiling and looking up at Dan. The expression on Joshua's face was priceless and I can't even put it into words! He was just so happy!

A view of the train! The Zilker Zephler! This train goes all around this huge park. We plan to go back and experience the playground and much, much more!

A Little of this and A Little of that

There are alot of random things in this blog, so I had to create a title that would cover everything. There are so many cute and funny things that Joshua is starting to do that if I don't blog about them soon, I will forget to do it later. So here we go! Joshua tried ketchup for the first time last night. It was so funny to watch him. We were out to eat, so I was not able to get a pic, but the kid was hilarious. I haven't done the whole ketchup experience yet, because I didn't think it was a necessary food group to have on the plate( I know some of you might think differently) and dinner time is messy enough without adding another mess on purpose. Dan put a little bit on his plate as I grabbed the wipes and prepared for the worst. Joshua took a piece of chicken and dipped it in the ketchup like he had been doing it for years. Honestly, he never "played" in it. He actually took his food and dipped it. What he did do was dip and lick, dip and lick. He loved it! Also, when you tell Joshua it's time to go, he will start walking to the door that leads into the garage. He will keep looking back to make sure you are coming too and will say over and over again "Go, go go" It is so cute! He also says "night, night"when it is time for bed or nap time. It is the sweetest thing to hear him say that. He says "beep, beep" and uses it in context sometimes. The teachers in his MDO class say this when they need to get by or they are moving a toy or whatever, so I think that is where he got it from. It was funny, for awhile he was saying it and Dan and I had no idea what he was saying, until the other morning when Milo was standing in his way and he said, "beep, beep" for Milo to get out of his way. It is Joshua's new favorite phrase! "BEEP, BEEP!" Last but not least in random Joshua news, is that we caught Joshua on video getting down and funky...haha!! These are Joshua's new dance moves! Enjoy!!

Veggie Fanatic!

Just wanted to share this little moment in time where my child (as of right now) loves any vegetable you put in front of him! There isn't a whole lot that Joshua doesn't eat. He isn't all that picky really, but I thought he would at least turn his nose up to some sort of vegetable. Tonight I had made spaghetti and a salad for dinner. I was fixing Joshua's plate and decided to chop up a few mushrooms, cucumbers and tomatoes for him to see if he would even touch them. Not only did he touch them, but he ate the veggies before the spaghetti and asked for "mo"(more). I am NOT making this up. Of course I gave him more. I am just glad that for now, Joshua loves to try new things. He is a veggie lover!!! Over time he has eaten everything from zucchini to avocados and now he can add mushrooms and cucumbers to the list! I know this will probably be different over the years to come, but right now I am thankful for his healthy eating habits!!

Lazy, Lazy Weekend!

This weekend was a LAZY one, and we loved it! There was no place we had to be or nothing that we had to do! We definitely took advantage of it. We just hung around the house playing and relaxing. We all "slept in" until 7:30-8:00. It was wonderful! Saturday, was yucky weather for most of the day so we hung out inside. Sunday, was a different story. It was beautiful outside. So, we spent all of our day in the warm, breezy weather. We played with the water table, we went for a walk and much, much more! Joshua loves being outside! He loves his water table and this 2 dollar rubber duck that you see in the picture. The water table came with a bunch of fun trains, and shovels, etc, but the rubber duck is a hit with Joshua. It is about all he plays with or chews on(poor kid is still cutting teeth).

We love it when we are able to hang out at our little Oasis! It always refreshes us for the start of a new week. We always hate when the weekend comes to an end! We have had a wonderful weekend enjoying the outdoors and the time together. We are ending our day by giving Joshua a bubble bath and getting him ready for bed. We hope all who read this had a wonderful weekend as much as we did!!

Busted!!!!

We have entered into the curious toddler stage! This stage is where the parents' patients are tested the most! This is the stage were curiosity gets the best of everyone! Joshua has been busted doing several different things around the house! Each time you catch him, he gives you his best smile as if to say that he is too cute to be the culprit!! It must be the dog!! In the pictures below he was busted playing in Vaseline, Q-tips and trying to eat a rock and some dirt! Seriously, the kid loves to eat dirt! I have no idea what the big hype is really. ha! He loves to sit in the flowerbed and throw the lava rocks onto the concrete sidewalk. Great fun for Joshua and a big clean up for mommy and daddy! I have come to realize that this is also going to be the stage of big clean ups! But, oh what fun does this little boy have each time he goes exploring! I LOVE my little explorer!!!

16 Months and growing!!!

So, Joshua doesn't officially turn 16 months until tomorrow, but we had his well check up today. Joshua weighs 22lbs 15oz (23%) and is 30 1/4 in. long (24%). The doctor said he is growing and doing well. He is right on target! He got two shots, one in each leg and took them like a champ! He got to pick out a sticker when we checked out for being such a great patient! Joshua is a little chatter box these days. He loves to read his books out loud to us and is developing new words here and there. Most of the time it is a language all his own, but none the less he is chatting up a storm! Tonight, Milo was barking like crazy as usual and Dan was telling him to "stop" and every time Dan said "stop" Joshua would repeat what I am pretty sure was "top"(stop)! It was pretty cute! He doesn't sit still! He LOVES to walk! Some of his other favorite things these days are strawberry milk, bananas, and turkey and cheese sandwiches. He still loves dancing, bath time and being outside! He is getting so BIG!

A Helping Hand!

First of all there are TWO post for April Fools Day and that's not a joke!! haha! Joshua is such the little helper. He loves to help you even if you don't need help; he is still willing to lend a hand and who wouldn't want to have this precious little boy help out. Below are some pictures that have been taken over the last few weeks showing Joshua lending a big, helping, hand!!!

Joshua helping Daddy with the slide!
Joshua helping push the stroller!

Joshua helping fill the diaper stacker or organizing it(its all in how you look at it)

Joshua making sure that mommy put all his blankies back nice and neat

Ok, mommy they are all here, good job!!

Practice Makes Perfect!!

Joshua was 14 months old when he took his first official big boy steps. He has been practicing really hard since then on trying to perfect his walk. He has been walking comfortably between Dan and I for some time now. Last month he ventured out a little further and went from couch to couch, and decided that he could push the bar stool around the kitchen. Well, in doing so he lost his balance and instead of letting go of the stool he pulled it towards him and tumbled to the ground and the bar stool ended up on top of him and he had a busted lip to show for it. After that little fall, he lost all confidence in walking. He didn't walk at all for a couple of weeks. He would walk while holding our hands but the minute we would let go he would plop himself on the floor and begin to crawl. That is until these past few days. He has regained his confidence and has started to take off again. This time he just decided to take off without any warning to Dan or I. He has gone from the couch to the gate in the kitchen, from the kitchen to the couch and from the couch to the office and back. He does this for 20 minutes at a time. He is just practicing getting stronger and stronger and just waiting for the moment when he decides he wants to run! In the video below, Joshua was standing by Dan in the living room and Dan asked "where's that mama?" and without even using Dan as a crutch, Joshua took off walking in search of mama. He found me in the office. So then he decided to go find Daddy!!!! Enjoy the video!!
