We have had a rough couple of weeks in the Feldman household with everyone battling allergies, and trying to recoup from vacation. There have been a lot of sleepless nights, way too early mornings and fussiness. Joshua has been going to swim lessons for over a week and having a blast, but on Sunday afternoon he got a high fever and wasn't feeling well. We gave him some Motrin and he felt a little better, but on Monday his fever was back up again. We continued to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin thinking it was just a virus and it needed to take its course. I have come to learn that Joshua is very sensitive when it comes to having a fever. If he is going to get a fever he is going to get a FEVER! He will get a fever with anything. So it didn't really startle me. Well, last night (Tues) his fever spiked to 104.3 and that was it, we were going to an after hours clinic to see what the heck was going on.
I went online to search for an urgent care facility, because I didn't want to wait until in the morning to see his pediatrician and I didn't want to have to go the ER, because last time we did that they said there was nothing they could do unless the fever was over 105 (which I still think is quite absurd). Luckily, my search ended when I found a place called After Hours Kids. We went there and I could not have been happier with the staff, the care and the place. It actually is a regular pediatrician's office by day and an urgent care clinic for kids from 7-11pm, 7 days a week. The staff handle Joshua great and understood that he didn't feel well and took the time to make sure he was comfortable and we understood what was going on. Well, after some blood work and a look around in his ears, they found that Joshua had a slight ear infection in his left ear. It all came together, the fever, the fussiness, and the Motrin not helping! Let me back up to say that Joshua never touched his ears during this time and had no other symptoms other than his fever which hovered between 101 and 103 until is soared to 104.3 and we took him in. So, we had no way of knowing that his ear was infected. They gave us a prescription for some antibiotics and we went home. So, Joshua has his very first ear infection and will be on antibiotics for the next 10 days, twice a day! He was not too keen on the idea at first, but once he tasted that wonderful bubble gum flavored medicine, he was ok. Hopefully tonight he will be able to sleep a little better and be good as new by Friday. This was his last week of swim lessons, but we will not be able to finish, which is fine. I just want him to start feeling better again. I hate when he is sick, it just breaks my heart. So, for now we will just continue with our bubble gum flavored medicine, Elmo, Blues Clues, and taking it easy. He is such a tough little guy, I know he is going to bounce right back!!!

This Blogging Hiatus...
...is brought to you by the blogger being SICK!! I have been feeling a little under the weather and I just haven't felt like sitting at the computer. Hopefully, this week I will be feeling better and back to blogging. We have been keeping it low key, just swimming lessons and trying to fight allergies, which I believe got the best of me this last week. So, until then I leave you with a couple of pics to hold you over. Enjoy!

More Water Please!
I know what you are thinking...that splashing in the water is probably the last thing that we want to do after being in the water for 5 days straight, but it is so darn hot that there really isn't any other way to enjoy being outside. Plus, Joshua has been asking to go to the "swim pool" since we got home! So yesterday after Joshua's nap we decided to load up and head to a local splash pool about 10 mins from the house. We had never been to this pool, so we had no idea what to expect. This place was fabulous! It has a huge swimming pool that is 9 inches deep all the way around with fountains and spray turtles and frogs for the little ones. They had two other pools for older ones, but this one worked out perfect for Joshua. He loved it! He didn't want to leave when it was time to go. He had lots and lots of fun, so much fun that I guess his little body decided it couldn't take anymore and now we are sitting at home with a fever that started late last night. It started as a low grade of 100.5 and this morning it has jumped to 101.5. So we have Motrin and Elmo handy and we are just taking it easy on Father's Day, which is what Dan asked for anyway, so it kind of works out. Poor little guy, he has no other symptoms, so I don't know what is going on. We had a really rough night last night with him not wanting to sleep and when he was in bed he was tossing and turning. Needless to say we are all like zombies today. I think when Joshua goes down for a nap we will all being going down for one. I hope my little man gets to feeling better, because I really would like him to go to school tomorrow to see his friends and first day of swim lessons.
Hope all the Dad's out there are having a great father's day!!

The Vincent's Come to Visit!
Over the weekend, my friends Jennifer and Wade and their 3 kiddos came to visit us! It was so good to see them. We have not seen them in quite a while, so getting to spend some time with them was great! They got here around 2:30 on Friday and we went to eat at Trudy's a Mexican food place and after stuffing our faces with yummy food, we came back and put the kiddos to bed and then had a Mario Kart tourney with my cousins Brittney and Jeff on the wii. It was a lot of fun. On Saturday morning we woke up to beautiful, clear skies! It was hot but pretty. We had rented a water slide for the day so we could just hang around the house and catch up while the kiddos played on the water slide. They set it up about 10 and came and got it about 630 that evening. It was so nice, we didn't have to do anything but have fun. The kids had a great time playing on the slide and so did we. It had a huge wading pool, so the adults just hung out in the cool water while the kids climbed up and slid down the slides over and over. They left on Sunday morning, but it was so nice for them to come and visit us. We had a great time catching up and hanging out! We have already planned to make a trip to see them and their new pool towards the end of summer! We can't wait!! Thanks for the lovely time Vincent Family!!! (Pics of the water slide below...SO MUCH FUN!!)

A Buggy Conversation
Yesterday evening was spent taking care of the front yard and flowerbed. While hanging out, Joshua found a bug crawling around on the sidewalk. He was so intrigued with this bug that he squatted down to get a closer look and started talking to it. This is how the conversation went(or what I heard at least):
Hi, bug. ow are you?
I see bug, buggy!
Hi buggy!!
I get you buggy, I get you!
Dan interrupts his conversation and tells Joshua that the "bug" is actually an Ant! He told Joshua to be careful because the ant might bite.
Joshua then says this:
Ant, bite? I bite ant!!
It was so funny! This is actually the first real conversation where I have completely understood all the words. Now, if he can only carrying on conversations with us like that!!!

Phone Pics
I forgot my phone over the weekend so I took all my pics with my phone. So when I downloaded them today, I downloaded all of the pictures that have been stored on my phone. So I thought I would share some photos that have probably not been shared because they are all on my phone. These pics just make me smile and realize how big Joshua is getting! Definitely, not a baby anymore! Don't forget to check below to see what we did over the Memorial Day!! Enjoy the phone pics!
Memorial Day Weekend!
We spent the long holiday weekend at my Dad's place! Joshua had a great time splashing in the water, playing in the sand, feeding the ducks and geese and petting and feeding the horses. Each day we were there he played as hard as he could and didn't stop unless he was eating or sleeping. He loved feeding the ducks and wanted to see them all the time. We would make several trips out to the pond just to see the ducks! He also loved bringing hay to the horses and feeding them from the other side of the fence. He didn't mind looking at them or petting them but when they got a little too close for comfort, it got a little hairy! We all had a good time seeing each other and grilling out and just enjoying a relaxing weekend. I have posted pics below of the weekend.(I forgot my camera so these are all taken with my phone. Not bad for a camera phone.)
This kid has no fear when it comes to water!
