When Joshua Speaks

Joshua has been talking in sentences for a while now, but it seems here lately that they are more complete and inquisitive. He is also becoming like a parrot more and more. He literally will copy anything that you say with the same inflection and tone that you said it. He plays the "copy cat" game without even knowing that he is playing(we will keep that to ourselves, because I am sure once he knows that it is an actual game, he will want to do it all the time). Most of his copying comes when we are at the dinner table. Do you know how hard it is to carry on a conversation with an echo in the background. We are trying to explain to him that this is not very polite to do when some is talking and that if he has something to say then he needs to say, "excuse me" and wait for his turn to speak. Very hard to explain when he thinks it is so funny!

Some of Joshua's sentences are so funny and then they can also be so grown up. The sentences that sound more grown up really throw me for a loop. My baby boy is growing up way too fast! So I thought I would share some sentences that he has said lately and some conversations that go on around our house.

Joshua: "Daddy, I need to ask a question?"

Dan(with a shocked look on his face): "Ok, what's your question?"

Joshua: "nothing"

My niece, Jordan was playing around with Joshua. They were kind of teasing each other, but then Joshua had enough and the conversation went like this:

Josh: "Jordan, stop it, stop right now!" "Go sit in time out!"

Jordan (with the expression of is this really happening) "Are you serious? I am not going to time out!"

Josh: "yes, you are!" ( my mom intervenes and tells them both to stop teasing and no one is going to time-out)

Josh: "Jordan, do you hear that!? listen! Jordan?!

My, what a bossy little 3 yr old!!

J: Stay right here momma! I be right back!

Me: Ok, I will wait right here for you

J: I'm back! I'm back! (as he comes running into the room)

Random sentences:

Momma, wanna a look at the stars?

I need to pick two trains to go to school.

Where's my stool? I need my stool! (searching for it) (finds it) There it is!

Momma, wanna play trains? You can be (insert name of a train here). He always picks the train for us, we never get to pick which ones we want to be...lol

I need my swimsuit, I wanna play at the water park!

J: "I want a banana."

Me: "Ok, but you have to sit at the table and eat it."

J: " No fank(thank) you." "I want to eat it on the couch"

Me: "You can't eat a banana on the couch, it is too messy."

J: "I be very careful."

Me: "No, Joshua! You can eat the banana at the table or you don't eat it at all!"

J: "I JUST HAVE TO EAT A BANANA! uggghhh!!" (As he stomps to the table and sits down)

" I can't have to go." (when he can't go tee tee in the potty)

"Sharing is nice. I share with Andrew!"

"Ok, lets see. What should we do?"

The list could go on and on. The conversations can be trying at sometimes, but overall they are just shocking and funny! I really don't get where he gets some of these grown up words and sentences. WOW!! You never know what is going to come out of his mouth!

While At Granbee and Papa Joe's...

...I got to do some fun things! I got to ride in a golf cart, while my cousin Dylan, who is alot older than me drove us around the land. I also got to swim in the swimming pool and do lots of arts and crafts!

I also got to pretend I was a farmer and help pick tomatoes off the vine.

I got to play with Luke and Gabby! I love these dogs! They love all the attention I give them and I like to play fetch with them too. I don't actually throw the Frisbee, I run along side gabby and try to catch the Frisbee too!

I got to have a picnic outside with everyone! That was a fun treat to eat lunch on the grass, rather than inside at the table.

This pic is kind of blurry, but I am moving around because I am trying to count all the watermelons that I see. I got to help water all of them and the bonus for me was that I started counting them. There are a lot of watermelons!! (look towards the bottom left side of the pic and you can see a tiny watermelon)

I also got to go to a splash pad. According to my cousin Jordan, this splash is in another country! Sounds exciting, but I am pretty sure that is incorrect. But, I didn't care, because it had water and fountains everywhere. Jordan and Dylan went on the slides, because they were bigger, but I was perfectly fine running through fountains!

I also got to learn about baby eagles on the Internet! There is a nest in a tree with baby eagles in it and someone has a camera in the nest, so you can see what is going on all the time. I don't remember was it is called, but you can probably look on the Internet to find it! I am only 3 after all, I only cared about watching the video, not knowing where it came from.

I also got to look at the peach trees and see all the peaches that were there. I had to look way up, because the trees were so tall!!

Another thing I got to do was have lots of juice boxes! It was so hot and with all the playing and hard work that I was doing this was quite yummy on my tummy! Between the juice boxes and all the water that I drank, I stayed well hydrated!!

This was just a glimpse into all the things that I did at Granbee and Papa Joe's! There was and is so much more to do there! I had a lot of fun!

Thanks Granbee and Papa Joe!!!

My Little Water Bug

Joshua is certainly my little water bug! A few post ago I mentioned how he was really wanting to venture out in his friend's pool at the pool party and we wouldn't let him. Well over memorial day weekend we went to my mom's and spent most of our time in the pool. Joshua had a blast! This boy loves to go swimming! It was the first question he would ask when he woke up in the morning. He didn't care for the arm wings very much, but he did take to the ring. I was really nervous about him being in the ring, because he gets so excited that I thought he might forget that he had to hang on. Once the ring went over his head and around his waist, he automatically put his hands on the ring to hold on. It must just be an instinct to do that, because it was instant the first time he wore the ring. Of course, he thought he was invincible with this ring. That boy was all over that pool. Thank goodness there were at least 2 adults in the pool with the kiddos. If he wasn't in the ring he was practicing his swimming with us. He would start out using both his arms and legs and then he would start to favor his legs and forget his arms. We would say,"where's your arms?" and he would immediately start using his arms again. He loved kicking his legs as fast as he could to make the biggest splash that he could. He had the best time when he was in the water. I am glad that he loves the water so much. I didn't think that he would remember the swim lessons from last summer, but as soon as he hit the water it all came back and he was good to go. This little water bug is sure to enjoy his summer, since we will probably be in the water ALOT!

Downtown On A Thursday Night!

Last night we took my friend, Jana, to the train station. She was trying to save money going home, so she found that the train was the cheapest way to travel. When we got there, we found out that instead of the train leaving at 6:30pm it wasn't set to arrive until 9:10pm and that was at best. So, since we had some time to kill, we decided to make the best of it and venture around downtown. We actually had fun doing things on a whim and it was a great evening to be downtown. I used Dan's camera phone to capture some pictures.

This was not the train that she was going to be on, but I had to include it anyway, because if it wasn't for her train being late, we couldn't have done the things below:

Like find a mini fountain right next to the place that we got yogurt!

So, this is pretty much the last thing that we did before we went back to the train station. There was nothing around saying that we were prohibited from splashing in the water, and once Joshua saw it, I knew we had to let him do it. He had a blast! Perfectly normal, right?

This is were we got yogurt, which is next to the water feature above! They have yummy, yummy yogurt! So many different flavors and toppings!

Before the yogurt and the water fun, we ate at The Hula Hut, a restaurant right on Lake Austin. This is Joshua trying to smile like the Tiki Man.

Water feature turned mini splash pad!

Perfect thing to entertain Joshua with...WATER!!!!

Hula Hut on Lake Austin

It turned out to be a great evening, full of fun and exciting things! Jana finally was able to board the train after several other mishaps on Amtrak's side. She made it safe and sound, but she told me she will never ride another train again! I told her that if it wasn't for her wanting to ride a train home, we would have not have got to enjoy an evening downtown!

HOPE EVERYONE HAS A SAFE AND HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!!!
