Oh The Faces!

Once again Joshua got a hold of my iPhone! So here are some self portraits that where taken by him back to back. He literally pushes the camera button over and over.

Coke

Joshua got new little friend over the weekend in the form of a fish! Joshua decided to name the fish Coke. We do not know why he chose this name. We asked several times what the name was and each time he said Coke. Coke lives in this little aquarium all by itself, because Coke is a beta fish, and it's a known fact that betas do not like other betas! They are loners! Joshua is totally over the top with his new friend. He tells us every evening and morning that Coke needs his food and he likes to watch Coke eat the food. We chose to get him a beta because they are supposed to be hearty and do not require a lot of care. We were in Walmart last night and Joshua decided to get Coke a prize. We bought coke a little penguin friend to put in the aquarium. Joshua has been all about fish lately and loves watching "Finding Nemo". This seemed to be a good fit!

Mt. Bonnell

Joshua hiked Mt. Bonnell on Saturday! We told him we were going to climb a mountain and he was thrilled. It really was a mountain to Joshua. This place is more of a hill than a mountain. He loved it so much that he asked to do it again, so we did! Mt. Bonnell is sort of a landmark in Austin. It is pretty at the top. There are tons of hiking trails around there. We let Joshua lead one of hikes and we ended up in the thick of it all. We had a great time and Joshua couldn't stop talking about how he climbed a mountain. I posted some pics of Joshua's adventure!

Kites

The Zilker Kite Festival is held every year on the 1st Sunday in March. We try to go every year, but this year we decided it would be best not to go. Joshua has been a few times but has never really flown a kite. Dan and I usually are the ones flying the kites or untangling them or climbing in trees to get kites( the tree climbing is Dan), etc. We end up chasing kids( my nieces and nephew have gone with us a few times) and not really enjoying the kite festival. We bought our kites and stayed near the house. It was a pretty day and the perfect weather for flying kites. We took the kites down to the park in our neighborhood, because it is pretty open. I didn't expect much out of Joshua because he mostly watches when there is something new, but he surprised me and really got into it. He loved it!!! He flew his kite all by himself! I think Dan enjoyed himself too, in the fact that he actually got to fly the kite instead of untangle one. Joshua picked out his kite and Dan's kite( both Lightening McQueen). I think we made the right decision by staying home and having our own little kite festival. I have posted some pictures below. Enjoy!

Milo even got to go with us.

Towards the end he was all about the playscape

School Days

Joshua has been super busy at school lately. Last month was jammed packed and March is looking to be the same with projects and parties! I have posted one of the projects that they did. February is transportation month at school, so they have a transportation parade and his class got to design their very own cars. They also had a valentines party among other things. March started off with a celebration for Dr. Suess. Last Friday each class was responsible for using one of the books by Dr. suess as a theme. Joshua's class had the book "Ten Apples Up On Top". So they wore red and shared caramel apples with everyone. They also had a picnic lunch outside. The kids loved this. I actually had to make Joshua's lunch!! It was weird, because I have never had to pack his lunch for school before. They have totally spoiled me in that way. He still has a St. Patrick's day party, western day and their monthly trip to the library and so much more. He is having a good time staying busy. I have posted some pictures below. The first one is just cute and the second one, well I had to throw it in here because it makes me proud. He spelt this word all on his own, no help from anyone! Smart kid! Enjoy the pictures!

Suds of Fun

Every once in awhile we put dawn in our pond to get rid of some of the slime and gunk that collects in it. I accidentally added a little too much dawn this time and we have had suds or bubbles as Josh likes to call them for days! He loves going out and looking at all the bubbles. He told us it looks like a bubble bath! In these pictures below we started a little early checking on the bubbles, that is why he is in his pajamas! Pajamas and crocs, so stylish! Lol

Can I Try It?

Joshua loves to help in the kitchen. He also asks what I am doing with each step. Lately, when he is watching me cook he will ask if he can try whatever it is I am making. You might be thinking oh that is great, but don't be fooled, he only asks to try it while I am cooking. Once it is on his plate, he says he doesn't like it. We have nightly battles when it comes to dinner time. Ok, back to the point at hand. One morning I was making my lunch for work and he pulled up a chair to the island and proceeds to ask what each item is and if he can try it. What he ended up trying was cucumbers, grape tomatoes, blueberries, and a homemade protein bar. He loved every single one of them and proclaimed they were all his favorites (he says this about everything that he likes)! I love the fact that he is so into healthy food. Today on the way to school, he had half of a homemade protein bar and 2 cucumber slices! Lol. As long as he asks to try new things I will be more than happy to let him. We do have a rule, that he has to try everything on his plate at least once. We call this a "no thank you bite". My friend told me about the "no thank you bite" and I thought I would give it a try. A "no thank you bite" is when you try something on your plate and don't like it you say "no thank you" after you have tasted it. It works sometimes. Yesterday, his "no thank you bites" turned into yes please and he ate everything on his plate and asked for more. It is hit or miss with him but at least he likes to try new things. I have attached a couple of pictures that have nothing to do with this post, but I figured you wouldn't mind looking at this cute guy!
