It's that Time of Year

It's SNOW CONE time!!! I love snow cones, there is just something about that flavorful, sugary, shaved ice that just makes the summer more inviting! Joshua has never had a snow cone before and when I go pick him up from school I always past by this snow cone stand and think, I should take Joshua there one afternoon. Well, today was the day! I was so excited for him to try this cool, sugary goodness! When we got to the stand I ordered him a kiddie size and asked him what color he wanted (big mistake) of course he started naming every color he knew, so I suggested he get rainbow and he agreed and said, "ainbow". You really can't go wrong with "ainbow", it has every color! So we watched the nice lady shave the ice and add all the bright colors and then we grabbed some napkins, OK I grabbed a lot of napkins and sat down at the benches outside the stand. Joshua immediately dove in. He loved everything about it! I wanted to get a picture of him smiling, but he was so into the snow cone that he would not lift his head up, except to comment on the cars that were going by. Towards the end of the snow cone he had to transition from a spoon to a straw due to all the melting that was going on. He ate about 3/4 of it before he said he was all done! I think Joshua enjoyed his first snow cone experience. I know there will be many more to enjoy this summer!!!

OUCH!!!!

Well, it was bound to happen sometime, Joshua's first confrontation at school. The little kid pulled out the "big guns" or should I see "big teeth, and bit Joshua! To be honest I was quite surprised that I haven't heard of any biting going on in the class from the teachers(they are toddlers, after all) before this. We will rewind just a few steps and explain how Joshua received this lovely "tattoo" from his friend. His teacher said that it happened during Art and that they were coloring to music and during a song change Joshua and his classmate decided to get new markers for the next song and I guess they wanted the same marker. The teachers heard the fussing and were walking to them when within a split second the little boy had already locked in on Joshua's arm. They said it didn't break the skin and there wasn't any blood(thank goodness), but that it was going to leave a pretty nasty mark. Joshua I am sure was in shock and pain and immediately started wailing, and wailing! They were able to put ice on it right away and put some cream on it. After some much needed TLC from the teachers, Joshua was ready to rock and roll and move on to the next activity, "Snack Time" where they had goldfish and all was forgotten by Joshua. They did correct the child that bit Joshua and they also sent a note home with the little boy and Joshua(there is only so much you can do at school). Joshua has had his shares of bumps and scrapes at school, but this can officially be deemed his first confrontation that ended with a souvenir to take with him.

The kid got him good!!

Tough little man!!

Our Visit to See Camden!

We went to Dallas this past weekend to meet the newest member of the Miller family! Camden is so sweet! I forgot how "light" newborns are after hauling around a toddler. We had fun visiting with family and getting to meet Mr. Cam! Joshua had fun playing basketball with his cousin, Kaden and playing at the park as well. It was a great weekend! Congratulations, once again, Nic and Lisa. He is precious!!!

The Fort that No One Could Go In

Joshua and Dan started building, what Dan likes to call an "Awesome Fort", which is really was! They got all the cushions and pillows off the couch and chair and proceeded to build the Awesome Fort. Joshua would lift the pillows and carry them over to Dan, as he did he would say, "heavvvy, Daddy!" He said this with each pillow. They built, and built, until there were no more cushions and then it was time to go into the fort. Joshua apparently decided that this fort was so awesome that there was no need to go in it, you can just look at it! Every time Dan would try and go into the fort, Joshua would start saying, "No, No, No!" He never told us why he would not let anyone in the fort, but I am sure he had his reasons! Towards the end of the fort venture, I think Dan finally snuck in the fort, but not long after was chased out by Joshua, the gate keeper! Check out the video at the bottom to see the gate keeper in action! (You will have to excuse Joshua in just a diaper, it was right before bath time and I had already stripped him down and when I came back the Awesome Fort was being constructed!)

See, I told you he was the gate keeper!

Moving on Up!

We are making a few changes around the Feldman household to try and save money and one of those money saving things is to get rid of our monthly storage note. In order to get rid of the note, we are having to rearrange somethings in the house in order to store some of the items that we want to keep. So what we decided to do was take down the twin bed in the guest bedroom and let Joshua have it for his bed. Which meant that we had to break down his toddler bed. Just another stage in life that is bitter sweet. His crib converts to a toddler bed, which converts to a full-size bed, but I was afraid that it would take up too much of his room and I wanted his room to be a place for him to go and play. So on Saturday we went and got a new blanket/comforter and a couple of fun pillows and a really nifty storage unit to hold his toys. We reorganized his room and got the twin bed all put up. I love his room and he does too! He kept saying "wow"! over and over again. I can't believe how his room went from being a nursery to a little boy's room. The guest room is now officially a playroom and will be able to hold some stuff from storage as well. On Sunday, we got to spend sometime with Grandpa! He is staying in Dallas with Lisa and Nic to help out with Camden, who was born on April 14th(we get to go this weekend and visit Aunt Lisa, Uncle Nic, cousin Kaden and the newest addition, cousin Cam!) We can't wait! So, on Sunday Grandpa drove to Austin to visit. It was a great time and we enjoyed getting to visit with him, because he will not be there this weekend when we go for our visit. Joshua was in rare form and just acting plain silly while Grandpa was around. I guess Grandpa brings the wiggles and giggles out of him. Joshua enjoyed the visit, tremendously and so did we! I have posted some pictures below of the room transformation!

Friday's Theme Is....

PAJAMA DAY!!! Why is this one my favorite day, well because all I had to do was basically get myself ready this morning. Joshua slept in what he was going to wear today. So, he was ready to go after a quick change of his diaper, brushing his teeth and combing his hair. We had so much time on our hands that I even got to go and treat myself to Starbucks this morning on the way to work. Life was great this morning! I wish everyday could be pajama day! It would make it so much easier in the morning! At school they got to watch a little Elmo in their pajamas(who doesn't love that, right?) I am sure this was a favorite day for a lot of moms at MFH! I mean, who wouldn't mind hanging out in their pajamas all day! I know we all have done it a time or two! Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

If you are reading this post for the first time then you might be a bit confused as to what is going on, read the next couple of post and you will see what I am talking about!

Themed Days, continued

Next "Theme Days" in line were Wacky Tacky Day and Team Spirit Day(sorry, the pics are out of order). So, for Wacky Tacky Day Joshua wore the tackiest outfit I could come up with. Being that I like everything to match, this drove me a little crazy, but it was just for one day and it was fun to see him and the other kids dressed out of sorts. Which brings us to Thursday, which was Team Spirit Day! There should be no questions asked here as to what team Joshua supported, of course it was UT Longhorns! Hook'em! He sported the UT hat, shirt and crocs! Upon arriving at school he was greeted by other loyal UT fans. There really isn't any other color to wear now is there? So, now we are down to just one more day in the week of themes and Friday is probably going to be my most favorite day! So check back to see what made this day my favorite and what the theme was! Pics of the last 2 themes below!

Joshua is truly not a morning person!

Themes Galore!

I love Joshua's school! They do so many cool things with the kiddos and this week is no exception. Everyday of this week they are having a different "themed days". So far we have had Super hero day and Hawaiian day! Monday was super hero day and since Joshua is not really into super hero yet, I had to get a little creative. I came up with "Super Dad"! Joshua is totally into his daddy, so why not let him dress like his daddy for a day complete a red cape(it is Super Dad after all). Then today(Tues) was Hawaiian Day! Joshua had some Hawaiian swim shorts that I thought he would be able to wear, but since the boy has no butt or hips to hold them up, they kept falling off. So we ended up wearing some bright colors and our crocs along with a lei. Below are some pictures of him dressed up! I know your asking yourself, well aren't you going to tell us what the other days are? The answer is, No! You will just have to check back and be surprised what the next "theme days" are. (On the edge of your seat, I know!!!)

Easter Rewind!

Well, you knew it was coming; me posting pics of Easter then and now. I think it is fabulous and I know secretly you think so as well. I just love, love looking at Joshua at different times in his little life! This Easter marked his 3rd one! So I posted some pictures from Easter 2008 to 2010! Enjoy!!

We spent Easter in LaPorte with my sister, Krystal and brother in law, Jason. We had a really good time. We went to their church for an Easter party and a helicopter dropped over 3,000 eggs onto a field for the kids. It was pretty amazing! Then we ate at a fabulous restaurant, called Gringos on Sat. night and then we came home and watched old home videos from Easter's past as a family. On Sunday, we went to their church and had an amazing worship time and celebrating the TRUE meaning of Easter, Jesus's Resurrection and conquer over death and sin! Then loaded up the car and headed back home. It was a great time spent with family! Hope everyone had a great Easter Weekend!!!

Talk About Reassurance...

On Thursday, Joshua had a class egg hunt and Easter Party. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend and help with the festivities. Everyone had a wonderful time, but there were a couple of moments on the playground that made my heart shine and make me one proud momma!!

He had picked up a few eggs and put them in his bucket, and then when one of his friends only had one or two eggs in her basket, he took some eggs out of his bucket and gave them to her. Now, I know that he probably didn't do it because he "noticed" she didn't have as many as he did, but he still shared his eggs with his friend(proud moment # 1)! One of his teachers saw him do that and started telling me how he really likes to share and help others out during the day. How she knows that he is going to go far in life and how she thinks he might be a mathematician because he is always, always counting(proud moment #2)! I was speechless, not because I wasn't proud, but because it let me know that Dan and I must be doing something right. You see, just like any parent, Dan and I sometimes doubt our ability to be a parent at some point in time and it is always good to hear from other people outside your family how your child behaves and acts. I know Joshua is not an angel all the time despite what the grandparents may think...ha ha! It is good to know that how we are raising him is being reflected in the world! His teacher also said that he is the leader of the pack and is always on the go. One of the parents asked me, "Do you ever just look at Joshua and say, now that is a cool kid?" I laughed and said well of course! She told me that every time she sees Joshua, she thinks to herself, Joshua is just cool! Lol! Well, I am glad my son is a cool kid in preschool! We think he is pretty cool ourselves! (This blog was not intended to pat ourselves on the back but just to talk about how we all as parents need the reassurance to keep us moving in the right direction when it comes to parenting and how I am so proud of my Joshua!)
